[FW500] Maintenance management, an essential component of the factory of the future

by bold-lichterman

At the beginning of the 2010s, the arrival of Industry 4.0 upset the way companies are organized. And particularly their approach to maintenance management, which has become a key area for companies who want to remain competitive in their sector. Saving time, reducing non-quality events, improving the management of interventions, optimizing budgets, increasing the duration of production tools … stimulated by the development of technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT or reality augmented, new generation CMMS (Computer Assisted Maintenance Management) software has become essential tools for companies in all sectors.

According to the French Association of Engineers and Maintenance Managers (Afim), maintenance expenditure in industry reached 22.1 billion euros in France in 2017, of which 8 billion are subcontracted. And according to Gartner, more than 75% of companies with more than 50 technicians will have even deployed CMMS solutions within a year.

In optimistic growth since around 2013, the global CMMS market is expected to continue to enjoy growth of nearly 10% per year by 2025, when it could be worth up to $ 1.5 billion, according to MarketWatch. Among the CMMS players are in particular EZOfficeInventory, Fixd, ManWinWin, Corrigo, Trackplan or even Infor.

And among the French players in the “next gen” CMMS is Mobility Work, a social network and platform dedicated to maintenance professionals. The startup, founded in 2016, offers both a maintenance management solution and a dedicated interface for suppliers. Founded in 2016 by Morgane Guinot and Marc-Antoine Talva, Mobility Work started from the principle that until now there were two major problems in the field of maintenance management: the solutions and their interfaces are not intuitive and are therefore quickly abandoned by technicians; and there is a lack of communication and information transmission between the teams.

In the form of an application translated into 15 languages, Mobility Work’s solution is used today by 18,000 people in 84 countries. In total, the company with 26 employees records more than 3.2 million maintenance interventions and more than 5.3 million hours of intervention.
