by bold-lichterman

Clément Favier and Romain Fournier met for their Masters in Entrepreneurship at EM LYON in September 2015. They launched ParkMatch which facilitates the rental of parking between individuals with its connected remote control.

More details with Romain Fournier, CEO and co-founder of ParkMatch:

FrenchWeb: What needs does your service meet?

During rush hour, one in four users looks for a space and will take an average of 30 minutes to park in saturated areas. At the same time, many private parking spaces are underused or never occupied. Faced with the problems encountered in parking a car and in the search for profitability, finding a place for some and optimizing its place for others, ParkMatch meets a dual need that reconciles supply and demand.

What is your value proposition?

ParkMatch offers a car park rental service between private individuals without handing over a beep and without installing or modifying the existing opening system.

Through a mobile application and a connected remote control, ParkMatch connects holders of private parking spaces with motorists looking for space in city centers.

ParkMatch therefore offers very short-term parking rentals (from one hour) and aims to relieve traffic congestion in city centers while optimizing underutilized private parking spaces. On the one hand, ParkMatch is aimed at holders of private parking spaces in the city center who may leave their space empty for part of the day, or even free 24 hours a day. ParkMatch offers them a solution that allows them to rent their space and make it profitable even for a few hours. For example, when you drive to work, your parking lot remains free all day and could be optimized.

On the other hand, ParkMatch is aimed at motorists looking to park for a short time (from an hour up to a few days) to go on a date, to the theater, to the cinema and who are looking for a simple, cost-effective and secure parking solution.

What is your development plan?

After two years of R&D, ParkMatch has been deploying its solution in the field for 3 weeks. ParkMatch follows a well-defined product roadmap, and wishes to provide additional functionalities in terms of booking, duration, availability, but also to diversify its activity by providing more global mobility solutions, notably with the provision of a multimodal travel platform. and integrate charging solutions for electric vehicles.

The technology developed by ParkMatch is compatible with European and US parking opening standards, which is why ParkMatch is counting on rapid internationalization, starting with the countries bordering on France.

What are your challenges?

ParkMatch’s first challenge was technological, in order to develop an extremely transposable solution that can be quickly and easily extended from one city to another, and even from one country to another.

Today, the challenge for ParkMatch is to build up the network of parking offerings necessary for the deployment of the rental service. ParkMatch notably develops partnerships in the real estate and automotive ecosystem to build and expand its community.

Who are your competitors?

ParkMatch has no real competitor in automatic and hourly parking between individuals. The technological offer is unique today.

Other players like ZenPark, YesPark are in the smart parking market but with a different approach and a technology that requires installation on the existing one. These actors therefore address a different target.
