[FW Radar] GéoKaps, a social network that mixes Twitter and Google Maps
Geokaps is a geolocated social network, founded by Hélène Lucien and Yann Petit in September 2015. The application allows users to choose a precise geographical area and to see the messages exchanged. For example, if Paris is selected, the user will only see the published exchanges (information on traffic, cultural information, etc.) by users geolocated in Paris.
More details with Hélène Lucien, co-founder of Géokpas.
FrenchWeb: What needs does Geokaps meet?
Hélène Lucien, co-founder of Géokaps: Despite the increase in the number of contact points to get in touch with a company, employees and customers waste a lot of time to be put in touch with the right people.
Indeed, who has never been confronted with an interminable wait with “The letter to Elise” in the background, and having to repeat the same story 4 or 5 times to different interlocutors who refer you to other services? Tired of war, many leave a murderous message on the Facebook page, the Twitter thread without receiving a response, except from other users who have encountered the same type of problem.
What’s your value proposition?
We want to put an end to the thousand-sheet of tools used by these companies which send messages continuously without anyone behind to answer them.
To solve this, we offer an interactive geolocated communication tool that brings together customers, company departments and other actors present in the same geographical area, thus promoting the involvement of each and bringing efficiency in the business / customer relationship. / local actors.
It is a geographical network allowing everyone to express themselves and enter into contact with all the local players to build smart collaborative local solutions.
Who are the users of your solution?
Our users are the customers and the communications and customer services departments of large companies that have to manage millions of customers scattered over many territories.
Our web and mobile platform allows all employees in the same geographical area to work at the same time, together, on the same device.
What is your development plan?
Currently we are in the midst of beta test with our first customers, in particular with Enedis (ex-ERDF) with whom we are very advanced.
We are accompanied by Paris Pionnières, and supported by BPI France.
– on the product / service level: Our goal is to improve the experience thanks to the feedback from our beta testers
– business growth: Recruit to set up our roadmap commercial and technical.
– internationalization: We are considering it in one or 2 years.
What are your challenges?
For the moment our market is centered on the B2B of large companies. But we soon intend to market our offer to players in the event industry (sports, culture, trade shows) to allow brands to put the visitor / spectator back at the heart of the event experience.
Our main mission now is to ensure good feedback with our beta testers, to consolidate our business model after a first successful collaboration with Enedis and acquire new client companies.
We are currently in the process of raising funds.
We are developing very quickly and we are looking for commercial talent in priority but also technical to strengthen the team.
Who are your competitors?
There are many players carrying out projects in the field of geolocated communication. However, we stand out from the rest, by its BtoBtoC oriented economic model, unlike most of these projects which are generally oriented on BtoC models..
What also sets us apart from other tools is the creation of local social communities that promote multiple interactions within the same application.
