[FW Radar] Agrifind organizes mutual aid between farmers

On the occasion of the Salon de l’Agriculture which takes place from February 25 to March 5, 2017 in Paris, FrenchWeb presents every day a start-up that is revolutionizing the agricultural world.

Launched in 2017 by two trained engineers, Gilles Cavalli and Sébastien Roumegous, Agrifind is a platform for connecting farmers. Everyone can “sell” one of their skills to help the other.

FrenchWeb: What needs does your service meet?

gille-cavalliGilles Cavalli, co-founder of Agrifind: Today, a farmer is limited to his close ecosystem to find answers to his questions, questions which may be of a technical, regulatory or management nature… The use of the Internet does not really solve this problem because the supply is bloated, unreliable, unqualified and it is difficult to find a competent person to discuss a specific problem.

We are therefore dealing with the difficulty for a farmer to quickly find a reliable contact person to answer his questions. Agrifind is shared field expertise.

What’s your value proposition?

We are in the process of setting up a system to identify practical know-how in the field, capture it, organize it and distribute it via digital tools.

Concretely, the first market place for agricultural skills was launched during SIMA 2017, it offers the possibility to anyone who wants to enhance their agricultural experience in the field, advisor / farmer, by creating a consulting activity in 10 minutes on our platform . It thus allows the farmers who benefit from it, to save time, money and be secure in their decision-making.

For example, a farmer has set up intermediate crops on his farm; he shares his feedback in a precise and structured way with another farmer who wishes to do so and who wants to discuss with someone who has already done so. We facilitate peer counseling.

Who are the users of your solution?

We have two categories of users: the contributor who posts an ad and the recipient who seeks an answer, so we have two value propositions.

For the beneficiary, it is a question of quickly finding a reliable interlocutor to answer his practical, technical questions, of diversification project… on his farm.

The contributor can create in a few clicks a complementary agricultural advisory activity or obtain an additional channel of his agricultural advisory service offer.

We thus promote independent advice on the sale of physical products (fertilizers, phytosanitary products, animal feed, etc.).

Who are your competitors?

The agricultural world did not wait for the Internet and smartphones to interact, connect and collaborate, however, we are the first and the only ones to offer a service (concerning all types of production, processing and marketing related to agriculture) networking so that farmers can advise other farmers.

We are positioning ourselves as an additional communication channel for agricultural consulting companies.

What is your development plan?

Our vision is to make Agrifind a group that offers several services that make it possible to effectively promote and disseminate the expertise of farmers thanks to digital technology.

We have therefore created the first marketplace for agricultural skills and our goal is to rapidly increase the number of offers posted on the platform: 1,500 experts registered within 12 to 18 months on connexion.agrifind.fr so that everyone can find the advice he needs in less than 15 minutes.

From the end of 2017/2018, we will offer a second service: a service of animation and promotion of a network of farmers so that the agricultural technician can focus on his professional sister: his role of advisor, facilitator, networking and promotion of successful practices. The idea is to develop ourselves in a BtoB open innovation market.

We have benefited from support from Lyon Start Up and recently the incubator, 1kubator, is helping us to structure ourselves and develop our services. The first recruitments will concern an IT developer, a marketing-communication manager and a specialist in teaching.

Once the methodology is stabilized, it will be easily duplicable in non-French speaking markets.

What are your challenges?

In France, the market for independent agricultural advice from sales is relatively small; the bet is that it will develop significantly in the years to come.

As agriculture is more and more demanding in terms of technical mastery and business management, the ability of farmers to make the right decisions is at the heart of their success and we offer a complementary channel to those existing to help them develop. their skills and thus increase their income.

Likewise, distance education is still in its infancy, we intend to play a role in e-learning in agriculture.
