From an art gallery to the UN, via Hyperloop, the unexpected trajectory of Alexandre Cadain
He is not yet 30 years old and yet he has already lived a thousand and one lives. During the last decade, Alexandre Cadain has multiplied experiences all over the world with one goal: to find solutions that have a positive social impact on the world’s population. Failing to do it right away through a start-up, he first revisited the world in his own way by setting up an art gallery in the Marais, in Paris, while he was still a student. “I was very interested in how artists could anticipate reals and future futures.», Specifies the main interested party, on the occasion of the event Hello tomorrow, dedicated to “DeepTech” innovations, held in Paris in October. And to add: “I was already very interested in the relationship between man and machine.“
During his studies, Alexandre Cadain spent several months in developing countries, notably in India. It was during these trips that his taste for radical innovation and artificial intelligence was born. He then reflects on how to help governments and large groups to implement innovation strategies for the benefit of the local ecosystem. And what better way to revolutionize the daily life of every inhabitant of the planet than to allow them to move more quickly.
Social ambassador for artificial intelligence
It is with this in mind that in February 2016 he joined Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, one of the companies working on the design and production of a high-speed transport capsule imagined by Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX. “Hyperloop is an extraordinary opportunity to transform our relationship with innovation», Admits Alexandre Cadain. This science and art enthusiast does not hide his admiration for the creativity of the American entrepreneur: “Elon Musk is a kind of artist of reality, he wants to transform the world directly and reshape the planet.“
In parallel with his activity at Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, which he left this summer, Alexandre Cadain also became in April 2016 the European ambassador of IBM Watson AI XPRIZE. Through this initiative, it supports 40 European teams selected to positively impact one billion people by 2020 through artificial intelligence. Its appeal to this theme was confirmed this year with the creation of the start-up Anima.ai, with which he wants to seize the challenges of the current world using disruptive technologies, and more especially artificial intelligence. “My vocation to work on radical innovation was going to materialize better with artificial intelligence than within a project like Hyperloop», Concedes the one classified by Vanity Fair among the 30 most influential French people under 30.
Now fully focused on artificial intelligence, Alexandre Cadain is also rapporteur for the UN AI FOR GOOD commission for the “Future of Work” working group. Here again, this initiative aims to identify projects through which artificial intelligence could have a positive social impact on the planet. “This is one of the most beautiful moments of my life, I had the feeling to see history being written in front of me», Says Alexandre Cadain. For his part, the young French entrepreneur is far from having finished writing his own.
