After more than 4 years of R&D, the young company based in Epinal is about to officially launch a new generation search engine and presents its international ambitions to us.
Co-founded by Eric Mathieu, the start-up Xilopix has developed a tactile and visual search engine. Developed by a team of 16 people, including 12 high-level researchers, the technology of this search engine makes it possible in particular to overcome language barriers. Thanks to this particularity, the start-up from Epinal intends to compete with a few giants in the sector such as Google, Bing or Yandex and Baidu, which find themselves limited by linguistic and cultural issues.
Two fundraisers, carried out with a series of business angels and the SEM regional fund of the Epinal-Golbey agglomeration community, enabled Xilopix to finance its development. Selected by UbiFrance, as part of the French Tech Tour, the start-up intends to take advantage of its visit to Silicon Valley to forge new commercial, industrial and also financial partnerships.
Thanks to its B2B offer already marketed, the start-up expects a 2013 turnover of 400,000 euros and intends to open an office in New York very soon.
Eric Mathieu, explains to us in particular why the city of Epinal, historically known for its imagery, was, according to him, the best location to develop the international ambitions of Xilopix :
