Facebook Home only passes the 500,000 downloads milestone

Unveiled on April 4, 2013, the alternative interface developed by Facebook struggles to seduce users.

Since its official launch on April 16, Facebook Home has only registered 500,000 downloads on Google Play. A relatively low score given the 700 million mobile users claimed by the social network.

Starting the alternative interface developed by Facebook also seems difficult compared to, for example, the launch from Instagram on Android. The application had recorded 1 million downloads in 24 hours and 5 million downloads in six days.

The low score of Facebook Home could, in part, be explained by the small number of smartphones that support, for the moment, this new application overlay. Indeed, for the time being, only the Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, HTC One X and the HTC One X + are compatible with this alternative “launcher”.

However, beyond the numbers, the quality of the app also seems to be lacking. Indeed, on Google Play, Facebook Home only obtains a rating of 2.2 out of 5 and the reviews multiply. We find, for example, in the comments: “Without any utility”, “What misery” or “A big disappointment” and “Simply without interest”.
