Exclusive: Podbox raises 1.2 million euros and opens a subsidiary in San Francisco
The Breton start-up Podbox, which publishes a synchronization service, has just raised 1.2 million euros from the seed fund of Go Capital, Bpifrance and LTF Invest. “It took us a year to complete this round. We started in the spring of 2013 ”explains to Frenchweb Dominique Péré, co-founder.
Direction the United States
The solution allows data to be synchronized between different applications running in the cloud. These can be databases, customer relationship management or e-commerce solutions, cloud marketing tools or websites. For this, an update is carried out regularly. It is thus possible to synchronize, via a system of drag and drop (drag and drop, editor’s note), its Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, SQL servers or even LinkedIn or Viadeo accounts.
The company wishes to take advantage of this new investment to expand its activities internationally, while it claims 85% of customers abroad. A first office will be opened in the United States (30% of customers) to get closer to publishers of software and SaaS applications (software marketed as a service, editor’s note).
More precisely, it is in San Francisco that a first subsidiary will be opened “because the American market is the largest producer of SaaS applications and software. At the beginning, I will be alone to open this antenna ”. Mr. Péré will also be responsible for expanding his teams on site. In the short term, a salesperson and a support person will be hired to support him. “Our roadmap then provides for three sales representatives and two or three support people by 2016”.
In France, the Podbox solution is available under four different offers ranging from $ 49 per month, for 2,500 transfers, to $ 199 per month for 50,000 transfers. A personalized offer is also available for customers requiring more than 50,000 transfers or more than two applications to synchronize.
Across the Atlantic, Podbox will have to face competition from American players such as Cazoomi, MuleSoft or Zapier. Founded in June 2010 by Antoine Krier, founder of Ubifow (a solution for distributing real estate ads on the Internet) and Ubiplex (a castle transformed into coworking space in Brittany) and Dominique Péré, former CTO at Ubiflow, Podbox is based in Betton.
