According to the latest figures published by ComScore, in the second quarter of 2011, in the United States, nearly 16% of mobile users over the age of 13 would use their cellphones to access various financial information or even carry out transactions.

While browsers continue to be the dominant channel for accessing these financial services on mobile, the study highlights a dramatic increase in mobile banking applications. This growth would be driven in particular by smartphone users, but could also be explained by the significant investments made by banks in this sector.

Thus, in the second quarter of 2011, the use of mobile banking applications would have increased by nearly 74% compared to the previous year.
