American company Docker, specializing in data containerization, announced the acquisition of the French start-up Infinite. The latter has designed a file transfer service over the Internet, with direct encryption between two users, without going through a storage system, by doing without the cloud. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2013 by the French Salomon Hykes, Docker develops containerization solutions that make it easier for developers to make an application work on multiple platforms.
The French group Faurecia, which develops auto components and equipment for car manufacturers, has announced that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Parrot Automative, specialist in connectivity and infotainment solutions for the automotive industry. This merger should allow companies to develop applications and platforms for connected vehicles.
As part of this partnership, Faurecia could gradually take control of the Parrot subsidiary. Initially, the group led by Yann Delabriere could take a 20% stake in Parrot Automotive’s capital before increasing its stake to 50.01% from 2019. By 2022, Faurecia could thus own all the shares of Parrot Automotive. The project has yet to be approved by the Parrot group. In the event of a green light, this merger will take place during the first quarter of 2017.
The investment fund Partech Ventures announced the closing of its seed fund Partech Entrepreneur II. The latter will be endowed with 100 million euros, while the initial objective was set at 80 million euros. This sum should make it possible to finance around 80 European and American start-ups in seed.
The bottom Partech Entrepreneur II is part of the pan-European and transatlantic seed strategy implemented since 2013 with the launch of Partech Entrepreneur I, a fund endowed with 30 million euros. In France, Partech Entrepreneur II is supported by the National Seed Fund, managed by Bpifrance as part of the Investments for the Future Program.
A European employee spends an average of 6.8 hours per week solely on administrative tasks. In France, this duration increases to 7 hours per week, according to the results of a study produced by Adobe. Among the most time-consuming tasks, printing documents and emailing come first (at 96%), as well as filling out forms (at 41%), and various onboarding processes (at 41% as well).
More worryingly, almost half of respondents (48%) say they have lost a contract due to internal administrative difficulties. 44% found themselves unable to issue an invoice, and 43% suffered late payments, for the same reasons. As a direct consequence of these difficulties, 64% of respondents say they work overtime to make up for the backlog in administrative matters, and nearly half (49%) work there on weekends.
** Methodology: study carried out among 7,000 European professionals from the United Kingdom (2,000 respondents), France (1,000 respondents), Germany (1,000), the Netherlands (1,000), Norway (500), Finland (500), Sweden (500) and Finland (500).
