$ 20 million has just been obtained by SkySQL to develop MariaDB, including $ 13 million from Intel Capital.
The MariaDB database announces a fundraising of 20 million dollars from several investment funds: California Technology Ventures, Finnish Industry Investment, Open Ocean Capital and Spintop Private Partners, and Intel Capital to the tune of 13 million for its part .
Created in 2010 by the alumni of MySQL, sold to Oracle, SkySQL publishes this open source database server – Maria DB – which sees rapid growth in its users. The Maria DB database has already been adopted by sites with very high traffic (Google, Wikipedia, Booking.com, HP, SAP, etc.), as well as by smaller companies. SkySQL, headquartered in Finland, now has 350 customers in 30 countries.
The funding round will be used to develop the database globally and build commercial offers around Maria DB.
