Collect millions of data why not, but the important thing for a company is to succeed in transforming it into information. Switching from Big data to smart data is the current challenge. Paris Region Lab Incubateurs and AXA Global Direct – the digital subsidiary of the insurer – have just signed a “strategic partnership to develop a start-up incubation program” which will focus its efforts on supporting start-ups “who develop solutions around Smart Data and Customer Intelligence ”indicate the two entities to Frenchweb.
As an insurer in need of statistics, AXA is very interested in data. The company had for example distributed Withings Pulse 2.0 bracelets at the beginning of June to the first 1,000 subscribers to its complementary health Modulango in order to collect their health data in exchange for gift vouchers.
5 to 8 start-ups supported
“It is not expected that AXA Global Direct will invest in incubated start-ups” specifies the entity on Tuesday. The support will therefore be more in terms of network, advice, and accommodation within Paris Region Lab Incubateurs. Even so, “start-ups can be assisted in seeking funding from AXA’s network of investors and its financial partners”. Selected projects will test their solutions and develop partnerships (“income sharing” for example). To benefit from this support, interested start-ups have from June 17 until July 22, 2014 to apply on the dedicated platform. Criteria: work on offers linked to smart data or customer knowledge, of course!
You must provide a detailed Business Plan or Executive Summary file no later than July 22, 2014 before midnight. 15 start-ups will be shortlisted and will be able to pitch their offer to experts from Paris Incubateurs and Top Management from AXA Global Direct. Between 5 and 8 companies will be selected to join the first promotion of the “Smart Data for Customer Intelligence” program.
