Dailymotion launches Dailymotion Games, a live-streaming platform competing with Twitch

Dailymotion announces today the launch of Dailymotion Games, a new live-streaming platform dedicated to video games. Internet users will be able to view, share, download and “stream” their sessions. With this new offer, the French nugget of the Web directly addresses the video games sector.

One of the main factors that led him to embark on such an initiative is the existence of uses already present: every month, 180 million views on Dailymotion concern videos relating to games, representing 11 million Internet users in the world, according to company figures.

“Since 2011, with the first Dailymotion Cup sure Starcraft, Dailymotion has supported the growth of e-sport on the Internet. Dailymotion Games is entirely dedicated to fans and streamers esports that come together every night to form an incredibly talented and gregarious community. Over the next few months, we will significantly increase our investment in esports to ensure the recognition of all our content producers around the world ”explains Martin Rogard, COO of Dailymotion.

Dailymotion Games at the same time launches applications for smartphones and tablets under iOS and Android. Content creators will also be able to monetize their audience via video ads, we explain.

Dailymotion will however have to rely on competition from Twitch, the industry giant bought by Amazon in August for $ 970 million. To accelerate, the company recently got their hands on GoodGames, a marketing agency specializing in e-sport and online games (collaboration with teams of players, tournament management, contributions from advertisers, etc.).

Above the streaming, others pure players French people are positioning themselves more and more in the video games segment. Webedia (PureMédia, PureTrend, AlloCiné…) has thus spent 90 million euros to get its hands on Jeuxvideo.com, one of the first players founded at the end of the 1990s. In November, the group announced that it had entered into exclusive negotiation to acquire all of Gameo Consulting, the publisher of Millenium.org, a portal dedicated to e-sports and games enthusiasts.
