He was speaking at Cisco Live
The actors of today will not be the same tomorrow. In any case, this is what John Chambers, the CEO of Cisco, who, on the occasion of Cisco Live, the summit of his company, suggests said : “You are going to see a brutal, a brutal consolidation of the IT industry”.
Referring, without citing them, to IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Dell, Microsoft or even Cisco, he added: “sAmong the top five actors, only two or three of us will still be significant within five years ”. Noting that of the Fortune 500 companies of 25 years ago, only 24 are still in operation, he predicts that “only a third of us [du Fortune 500 actuel] will exist significantly in 25 years ”.
