[Chiffres] The mobile internet audience in Q3 2011
Mediametry launched its first mobile internet audience survey last year. Considering figures for the 3rd quarter of 2011 which have just been published, it is clear that the support has experienced significant growth over the past 12 months.
In fact, in the third quarter of 2011, 18.3M mobile users connected during the last month, against 13.7M over the same period a year earlier, an increase of almost 34%. A boom that is based on the increase in the rate of equipment with smartphones: 4 out of 10 mobile phone users are now equipped, compared to 1 in 4 last year.
The quarterly mobile Internet audience rankings of groups and brands show that more and more French people are consulting the search engines, portals, social networks, media sites and practical services. In total, 7,337 sites were measured in the 3rd quarter of 2011 compared to 4,991 when the measure was launched.
52.9% of mobile users have consulted at least one connected mobile application from their smartphone, an increase of 21 points compared to the 3rd quarter of 2010. 1,127 connected mobile applications are measured in the 3rd quarter of 2011. That’s almost 3 times more than when the measure was launched (407 in October 2010).
In terms of rankings, Google appears on the first step of the podium for all rankings: groups, brands, sites and applications. At the head of the pack, we also find Facebook, which is however only 4th in terms of applications. Youtube, Orange and SFR are also in high demand.
