CES 2015: 4 3D printing start-ups

by bold-lichterman

3D printers for education was the goal of William Steele and Ed Estes when they founded Polar 3D in September 2013. Based in the United States, this start-up has only supplied beta printers for the moment. It announces its official launch at CES in Las Vegas.

Polar 3D wants to “motivate students to think like entrepreneurs”, as the team writes on its website. Polar 3D printers use a polar coordinate system. The site also offers Polar Cloud, an online platform for students and educators that encourages innovative 3-dimensional printing experiences. The start-up also organizes the Polar Challenge, rewarding innovation and creativity. The winners win printers, scholarships or internships. Polar 3D printers can now be found in six universities and ten secondary schools in the United States.
