Captain Contrat dreams of a digital legal service for SMEs
Company statutes, first commercial contracts, human resources… Entrepreneurs often have to complete numerous legal documents in the first years following the creation of their company. It is precisely on this market that Captain Contract. This Parisian start-up is developing an online marketplace whose vocation is to put SMEs in touch with lawyers.
“For parts of creation types [d’entreprise, ndlr], the legal requirements are ultimately quite simple and can be automated; and the more the company grows, the more it needs tailor-made. And tailor-made can only be provided by a legal professional, a lawyer ”, explains to Frenchweb Maxime Wagner, the co-founder.
About a hundred registered lawyers
For lawyers, Captain Contrat therefore presents itself as a business provider thanks to Saas software allowing them to manage their activity. Today, they would be a hundred registered, covering about thirty legal fields, according to the figures communicated. “The lawyer (of) Captain Contrat in 2016 does not need to have offices, large structural costs like firms. (…) It has its entire legal secretariat automatically managed by Captain Contrat ”, affirms Maxime Wagner.
Other companies are also positioning themselves in the online legal services market, such as LegalStart or LegaLib. For its part, Captain Contrat claims more than 2,000 client companies for more than 10,000 connections made. To accelerate, the start-up has completed a fundraising of 1 million euros from the investment fund of Aurinvest, several business angels, including Cyril Vermeulen (aufeminin.com) and Olivier Heckmann (Multimania), and of Bpifrance via its digital seed fund.
