Separating professional and private life is not always easy when you have a single telephone subscription for both uses. To remedy this problem, a very simple application exists: Numbber. It is edited by Simply Lab, a start-up based in Perpignan, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Once the application has been downloaded to the smartphone, it generates a second number.

The user then has a 09 number to communicate without having to reveal his real mobile number. Then all you have to do is configure the application to define when you want to receive calls from this number and when you don’t. In this case, the transmitters are automatically redirected to a personalized voice mailbox. When you call back, you can decide to display this number in 09 to continue to preserve your anonymity. The calls still go through the operator’s telecom network and not over the Internet.

This avoids giving your personal number to professional contacts or to strangers when passing a message on a classified ads site for example. The application is available in English, on a monthly subscription.

“We are in the process of developing new functionalities to complete the service, such as sending and receiving SMS, blocking certain numbers, personalizing messaging,” Simply Lab reports.
