Big data: Intel offers 18% of Cloudera for $ 740 million

The company wants to accelerate its growth in a market to 94 billion dollars in 2017.

clouderaAfter raising $ 160 million ten days ago, Cloudera, an American company specializing in data analysis and management thanks to a solution based on Apache Hadoop, announces that Intel has just taken 18% of the capital for 740 million dollars, thus completing a round of funding of 900 million dollars.

“These investments give us significant financial resources to accelerate growth and create long-term sustainable value for our customers and partners,” said Jim Frankola, CFO of Cloudera. “Demand is accelerating and the market is ready for growth for all players in this space,” adds Tom Reilly, President.

The company recalls that the Gartner firm estimates the data management infrastructure market at $ 74 billion in 2014 and $ 94 billion in 2017. IDC for its part estimates that the volume of data in the world should be multiplied by 50 between 2010 and 2020.
