The start-up Benchr, which is developing a community mobile application for football fans, has completed a round of funding of 750,000 euros with business angels.
Launched in February 2017 by Michaël Guez and Thierry Costa, Benchr offers football fans a mobile application that aims to boost their experience when they watch a match on television. To do this, it allows them to participate in the pre-match chat with their friends and members of the Benchr community, but also and especially during the 90 minutes of the meeting. From the application, supporters can vote on each action, validate arbitration decisions, note goals or even answer questions related to the match.
To get community members to get involved, Benchr has implemented a reward system. Thus, during each meeting, the users of the application earn points according to their activity on Benchr. The best are then rewarded by winning the endowments put into play on each day of the championship (match tickets, sports equipment, gift cards, etc.).
The objectives of the Start-up
This funding should allow Benchr to gain visibility on the eve of the World Cup to be held in Russia in June 2018. The start-up also intends to attract broadcasters, such as beIN SPORTS, which already uses the application, to become the essential complement to television during matches.
