Amazon have started negotiations for the acquisition of Souq.com, e-merchant based in Dubai, according to information reported by Bloomberg. Although Souq.com originally wanted to sell only 30% of its shares, the current talks with the American giant concern the repurchase of all of its capital for an amount close to one billion dollars. This operation, if it comes to fruition, would allow Jeff Bezos’ firm to gain a foothold in the Middle East.
Last September, Souq.com said it had mandated Goldman Sachs to find new investors. The company, which lists more than 1.5 million products on its site, addresses various markets in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt). During its last fundraising, in February 2016, its CEO Ronaldo Mouchawar implied that the company could go public in the coming months.
After removing the jack, Apple could take a new step by removing the jack to recharge his smartphone. At least that’s what asserts Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at KGI Securities, in the columns of Business Insider.
For its new smartphones, including the iPhone 8, from 2017, the Cupertino company would consider switching to induction charging. This process is already used for the Apple Watch, which is charged by placing it on a magnetic pad. The exclusive supplier of this new charger for the iPhone should be the Taiwanese company Pegatron, according to Ming-Chi Kuo. However, it is not excluded that Apple chooses to keep the Lightning plug, which is used to charge iPhones and connect them to the computer. This new induction charger could thus be offered as an option.

In France, 65% of consumers believe that their experience with banking services, traditional merchants and e-merchants over the last 12 months is rather bad, even very bad, according to the results of the Customer Experience Index Forrester 2016. This is 7 points more than last year at the same time. Conducted with more than 9,000 French consumers, the study looked at their experience with 34 brands in these three sectors.
Another observation is that while barely more than a third (35%) of respondents consider their experience to be good, no respondent feels really satisfied with their interactions with the 34 brands covered by the scope of the study. Finally, the Crédit Mutuel brand comes first in the banking services category, Yves Rocher in the traditional commerce category, and Amazon in the e-commerce category.
