Amazon.com is opening up to downloading video games and software, competing with Apple’s appstore. The catalog now includes more than 700 applications and should grow significantly in the coming weeks.

The must-have Rayman Legends, FIFA 14, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Farming Simulator 2013, and Saints Row 4 are now available. Customers will also have access to a large selection of free games like Second Life and Stronghold Kingdom in the store. Free-To-Play. For these free games, customers will be able to purchase content such as points, items or currency through Amazon.com and have it instantly available in their games.

The download platform also offers a full range of software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, anti-virus and security products from Kaspersky and Bitdefender, business management software from Ciel and multimedia software from Sony.

“Amazon customers who want quick access to software and video games will now be able to download them directly to their computer with a single click. This is a real step forward not only for daily purchases, but also for the next major releases to come that customers will be able to obtain without having to wait for them to be delivered to their homes ”, declares Xavier Garambois, Vice-President of Amazon EU SARL.
