Created in October 2012 by Nicolas Dessaigne (Nantes Computer Science School) and Julien Lemoine (ex Epita), both graduated from Exalead, Algolia offers a search tool marketed in SAAS. Accessible through an API, Algolia makes it possible to install a full text search engine on an entire database. The service is free for up to 30,000 requests per month, then is marketed in increments from $ 49 / month to $ 299 / month. Algolia is now used in particular by SocialCam, DocPlanner, Jelly Note and delivers more than 4 million requests every day.

Algolia has just announced a round of funding of 1.2 million euros (1.5 million dollars) with Index Ventures, Point Nine Capital and Alven Capital, and a few business angels (Ilan Abehassera). The company is based in Paris.
