After Paris, UberEATS invites itself to the table of Londoners

After Paris, UberEATS is coming to London! From noon, Londoners can order their favorite dishes on the application designed by the Californian start-up. For its debut in the English capital, UberEATS offers more than 150 restaurants and offers free delivery to its users for the first month.

To stand out from the competition, in particular embodied by Deliveroo, a British player in the market since 2013, the American company does not intend to introduce a minimum value for orders. To attract as many users as possible, Uber agrees to donate up to 20 pounds sterling valid on the next order if the customer is not delivered within 30 minutes. Besides Deliveroo, UberEATS should also be wary of Just Eat, the heavyweight in online food ordering in the UK with no less than 27,000 partner UK restaurants. Established in 13 countries around the world, the parent company of Allo Resto in France saw its meal orders increase by 57% over the first three months of the current year.

“This is just the beginning”

Launched in August 2014 in Santa Monica under the name UberFRESH, the meal delivery app was renamed UberEATS in April 2015 to expand internationally. Currently, UberEATS is available in 18 major cities around the world, primarily in North America. However, the service was only operational in Paris on the European continent.

Now available across the Channel, the service is only available in central London at the moment. However, the platform already has ideas for expanding into the United Kingdom. “Outside of central London? Don’t worry, this is just the start, we’ll be expanding the delivery area and adding more of your favorite restaurants in the coming weeks.», Specifies the Silicon Valley company in a statement published on his blog.
