After Jeuxvideo.com, Webedia wants to afford Millenium.org

The group Webedia announced that it has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire all of Gameo Consulting, the publisher of Millenium.org, a portal aimed at “gamers” and e-sport enthusiasts. The site, which features articles on video game news, game testing and live programming, was first established in 2006 before becoming a business in 2009. With 2 million unique visitors and 22 million pages viewed, it now claims third place among French sites dedicated to video games.

Strengthen the theme of games

With this acquisition, Webedia wishes to strengthen itself on the theme of video games, whereas it already had bought Jeuxvideo.com, a heavyweight in the sector, in June. It also intends to accelerate the development of Millenium.org by allowing its 28 employees to benefit from its expertise in publishing themed sites. At the end of the operation, Cédric Page, Elie Rotenberg and Sébastien Sadosky, the founders of millenium.org, will join the management of the video games division of Webedia.

“Webedia will allow us to continue to meet the expectations of players who are passionate about current and future video games, which has been the essence of our project since its inception,” explains Cédric Page, Managing Director of Gameo Consulting.

We are thus giving ourselves the means to create the most comprehensive content offer on the market on a theme with very significant growth potential, with gaming aiming to become entertainment for the general public in the same way as cinema or sport ” Guillaume Multrier, Managing Director of Webedia.

For a year, Webedia has increased its acquisitions. In December 2013, he got his hands on the 750g culinary site, the feminine Confidential.com, as well as the Exponaute cultural guide. To strengthen its position on multimedia content, it offered Melberries, specialist in video audience optimization, in February. Last June, he took his first steps in games with Jeuxvideo.com, one of the most visited French sites. Born at the end of the 1990s, in 2013 it generated more than 6.7 million euros in turnover. Founded in 2007, Webedia claims more than 19.8 million unique visitors per month on its various sites (Allociné, PureMédia, Over-blog, TerraFemina…).
