AccorHotels has partnered with the professional social network LinkedIn (106 million users) to offer a new functionality for business travelers on the French hotel group’s mobile application. Called Business Check, this service offers AccorHotels customers profiles likely to match them to make professional meetings in the city in which they are traveling.
To facilitate the connection with local contacts, Business Check offers the possibility for users to connect to their LinkedIn account to share their next destination with their network and to solicit contacts who live in the city where they are going to stay via an in-mail pre-written or a personalized email. “There are over 26 million “business travelers” on LinkedInSays Joshua Graff, VP Marketing Solutions for the EMEA region at LinkedIn.
The concept of Business Check resembles that of Shapr, a mobile networking app that raised $ 4 million this month. The latter is based on a suggestion algorithm which makes it possible to offer a personalized selection of around fifteen people to members of the platform every day. The application takes into account the geographical position, interests and professional experiences of users to offer them relevant profiles.

Yahoo! finally achieved better than expected results in the third quarter of the current year. The American group has been in turmoil since the revelation of a cyber attack in 2014. During the latter, the data of nearly 500 million users was stolen. Now aware of this incident, Verizon wants to know the real impact of the attack on the company before confirming or not its takeover offer, formalized last July for 4.8 billion dollars.
