23% of connections in France are now on mobile

There are now nearly 5 billion mobile users in the world, for a penetration rate of 66% according to the latest report “Digital in 2017 – Global Overview»Produced by the We Are Social agency. With 3.8 million registered Internet users, mobile far exceeds the Internet in terms of use, but also of penetration rate (50% for the web).

Beyond these raw data, if we compare the evolution since the beginning of 2016, the number of mobile users has only increased by 5%, while the number of Internet users has increased by 10%. Social network users on mobile have increased by 30%.

  • 46% of the world’s population connects to the Internet via mobile. This represents 3.4 billion people.
  • 2.5 billion people use social networks on their mobile, that’s more than a third of the world’s population.
  • At European level, the number of people connecting to one or more social networks thanks to their mobile is up 11%.
  • Half of Internet connections are now via mobile, an increase of 30% compared to the same period in 2016.
  • In France, 23% of Internet connections are made via mobile. The Internet penetration rate is 88%.

  • The French mobile users spend an average of 1 hour per day on the web, against 3:40 for Internet users connecting via a computer.
